the backstory

Holonet originally formed up in the beginning of 1997. At the time, the group of us collectively ran JediNet, The Boba Fett Multimedia Vault, The Star Wars Alliance, et al. We had yet to see a prequel, but the fandom was reaching critical mass. We all needed to get together and talk about Star Wars all the time, so we formed an IRC network dedicated to the idea.

Over the years the community focus on Star Wars has slid a bit, or more appropriately evolved into a wider love for science-fiction games, movies and books. We're also wholly independent and no longer affiliated with the original Star Wars websites we had a hand in. Because of that you'll find the community smaller than it once was; but the folk who are here are a reliable sort.

dunc-plug: on the design

the holonet design is the responsibility of Dunc, who uses Adobe Photoshop and GoLive relentlessly. The font used of the graphics is Squarefont, available at digitalthread. Inspiration came from the back cover the R.A. Salvadore's Vector Prime, unintentional self-stealing from Club Jade, and caffeine.
