<Stackpole> Hi, everyone.

<JediMaster> I would like to Welcome Michael Stackpole to the New Holonet.org. We are very excited the he is the first of many guest that will be here. GhentZ and Myself will ask the first few questions, than you guys will have a chance. A few rules. Lets ask respectfull questions. No swear words! Don't flood Mr. Stackpole with alot of questions at one time. The chat will be for about a hour long. Thank you.

<JediMaster> Hello Mike

<Stackpole> Hi, Mark and Kris. Glad to be here.

<GhentZ> Let's start with a few questions about your next SW book I, JEDI.

<Stackpole> Okay, I'll answer what I can about it.

<GhentZ> Could you give us a brief summary of what it's about?

<Stackpole> I, JEDI picks up at the same point where the Jedi Academy books start. Corran Horn has been convinced to become a jedi.

<Stackpole> The novel then takes you through his training, his disagreements with Luke's methods, and on into his own oddessy of discovery about being a Jedi.

<GhentZ> Sounds very cool!

<Stackpole> I hope so. I like it so far, as have those who have read it.

<Stackpole> Big book, too. I'll be about 160K words when published.

<Stackpole> It'll be the biggest until VISIONS OF THE FUTURE comes out.

<GhentZ> That's one huge book! How many pages would you say that would come out to?

<GhentZ> And let's not forget that this will be the first full-lenth SW novel written in the first-person viewpoint.

<Stackpole> Very true. That first person point of view was a lot of fun for describing the Force and other stuff.

<Stackpole> OUght to be 30% bigger than most of the hardcovers already in print. I don't have a page count yet in final form.

<GhentZ> Wow! That'll make for excellent reading.

<Stackpole> Just don't drop it in the bath tub or it will take you down to the bottom.

<GhentZ> heheheh.

<GhentZ> Ok, who else will we see in the novel?

<Stackpole> Who else will you see? Just about everyone. Wedge, Tycho, Luke, Leia, Han, Mirax, Ooryl, Iella and a bunch of new characters, too.

<GhentZ> Hear that guys and gals? A regular Rogue Squadron reunion!

<GhentZ> Any characters from other authors' books?

<Stackpole> Probably not as much of some of those characters as others would like will be seen, actually.

<Stackpole> Oh, yeah, Mara Jade shows up, and the folks at the Academy, of course.

<GhentZ> of course.

<Stackpole> Corran will be one of the half dozen unnamed students at the academy.

<GhentZ> Right, good thing Kevin left those open.

<Stackpole> It is indeed.

<GhentZ> Lots of people complained. Here's the payoff!

<GhentZ> Exactly what point in the Academy trilogy will IJ take place? when does it end?

<Stackpole> IJ starts before it [JEDI SEARCH] starts and ends about 4 months after the JA3 ends.

<GhentZ> ah. so not as previous reports which stated it begins near the end of CotF (JA3), right?

<Stackpole> Those previous reports were in error, it would seem. I needed Corran there for the entire run of the trilogy so he could develop.

<Stackpole> Running a character through the events of someone else's novel was interesting. I felt like...

<Stackpole> Frederick Forsythe writing one of his historical novels like THE DAY OF THE JACKAL.

<GhentZ> I'll bet it was. But it won't be a rehash, I hope.

<Stackpole> Kris: Won't be a rehash per se because it's from Corran's point of view, but there were events that I couldn't leave out.

<Stackpole> I tried to expand, not just retread, as much as possible.

<GhentZ> Lots of new angles to cover.

<GhentZ> Great!

<JediMaster> What work are you doing with Dark Horse Comics now?

<Stackpole> With Dark Horse I'm scripting the X-wing series (just finished #29). I'll also be doing the Spectre of the Past companion series.

<JediMaster> what gives you inspiration to right the SW novels

<Stackpole> What else? the films. They were very cool, and to play in that universe is quite a rush.

<Stackpole> The money helps, too.

<JediMaster> hehe

<GhentZ> <g>

<Stackpole> I love writing, but I also love being able to pay the rent.

<JediMaster> is there a outline for the last x-wing novel?

<Stackpole> Nope, not yet. I know what I want to do, but haven't done an outline yet because I want to see what Aaron Allston is going to leave me to work with at the end of his trilogy.

<JediMaster> Aaron should be here [IRC Event] at the begining of the year.

<GhentZ> So are you letting him do his own thing for the moment?

<Stackpole> Aaron's an old friend and a really sharp writer.

<Stackpole> Not a question of me letting him do anything -- he's telling his story. We've chatted about what he's doing, but he's a big boy. I trust him, Bantam trusts him and LFL trusts him.

<GhentZ> He doesn't have much room to work in, just between where you left off and CoPL, correct?

<GhentZ> CoPL = Courtship of Princess Leia

<Stackpole> I'm not wholly clear on that, actually. The timing issues were something that got discussed at the start and resolved.

<Stackpole> I've not worried about it since I think I'll start book 8 after the Zahn trilogy.

<GhentZ> Really? There's a new one.

<GhentZ> Right before the DARK EMPIRE series?

<Stackpole> Before then, yeah. There's time, as I recall, in the timeline.

<GhentZ> Yes, there should be a few months.

<Stackpole> That's good. I'll only need a few. <g>

<GhentZ> So, you don't have much for us on the other X-wings.

<GhentZ> What about the comics?

<Stackpole> I've read the opening of the first new one and it was fun. I think you'll enjoy the books.

<Stackpole> What do you want to know about the comics?

<Stackpole> Since issue 21 we're moving into a format that is more linear. The stories are still broken into arcs...

<Stackpole> but there are issues that are continuing through the issues.

<GhentZ> What's next? The Imperial viewpoint was refreshing.

<Stackpole> Well, we're still dealing with Isards rise to power.

<Stackpole> That should carry us up through issue #35. After that,we've not planned stuff.

<Jodokast> Will you be writing any more books with the Character Jodo Kast or his likeness

<Stackpole> Jodo: I won't, but K. W. Jeter is writing a bounty hunters trilogy for Bantam.

<LSF_Ferg> Will we get to know what the message was that Whisler had for Corran recorded by Hal?

<Stackpole> Ferg: yeah, that's covered in I, Jedi.

<johnsom> What's the deal with Wraith Squadron?

<Stackpole> Johnsom: That's Aaron's stuff. You'll see in a couple of months.

<LSF_OTTO> when will I,J come out?

<Stackpole> It will be out in April, from Bantam, hardcover.

<Zack> Mr. Stackpole: do you have an tips for a straggling author?

<Stackpole> Straggling authors: Sure, get caught up with the pack.

<Stackpole> Struggling authors: Yes, buy Orson Scott Card's book CHARACTERS AND VIEWPOINT.

<Stackpole> Card is an excellent teacher, and his book is very good for dealing with initial problems in writing.

<Zack> heheh. I mean, how do you push yourself to get writing done? I do a little writing for fun, but I often can't get myself to work on any of it.

<Zack> (besides the paycheck :)

<Stackpole> Actually, the paycheck is about it. I like writing, and some stories pull me through it, as I, Jedi did.

<Stackpole> Other times, just needing the money, or not wanting to embarrass myself with friens willget me working.

<Jodokast> Will you be working on anything else with Timothy Zahn?

<Stackpole> Jodo: tim just sent me an outline for another 4 part story, so I would guess that's a yes. I, Jedi and Visions of the Future also have a lot of crossing stuff.

<Garic> as a writer for Lucasfilm are you give a subject and a vague plot to work with or do they say "Write about X-wing Rouge Squadron" and you're on your own

<Stackpole> Garic: We're pretty much on our own.

<LSF_Ferg> Do you play X-Wing and TIE Fighter to get insperation for those battle parts in your books?

<Stackpole> Ferg: I have played them, but not so much anymore.

<GrandAdmiralNg> Mr. Stackpole, does Bantam have any current plans for a set of books from an Imperial point of view? Like what you did in the Rogue Squadron comics?

<Stackpole> GA: Bantam no longer has the license for novels, so no, they have no plans for such things.

<Wedge> is the eighth rogue squadron book gonna be more oriented towards wedge, or corran?

<Stackpole> Wedge: Both, I think.

<GhentZ> Let me cut in for just a sec. I spoke with Mr. Zahn a little while ago and he said that the SWAJ should be back very soon (December, I think) and the first part of your story will be in it.

<Stackpole> Kris: right, that's what we'll be shooting for.

<Zack> In I, Jedi, I'm excited to hear that you'll be exploring some events of the JA series. I assume you'll also be adding to that a lot, like forrays into the jungle, exploring Corran's powers?

<Stackpole> Zack: Corran's abilities get fully expored, there and elsewhere.

<Garic> I write almost all my characters stories in the first person...how did you find writing in this styles and what kind of disadvantages did you find writing this way

<Stackpole> Garic: I love it. It's easier and faster than other stuff. Don't get the villain's point of view, though, so suspense can be tough.

<LSF_Slash> Do you enjoy being bombarded with questions on IRC?

<Stackpole> slash: I've done this for years, so it's not that bad.

<Stackpole> Besides, I type fast for a living.

<LSF_Slash> ah

<GrandAdmiralNg> * the villain's point of view is fun, trust me on this

<Stackpole> GA, I believe you, but writing from Corran's point of view was a blast.

<Zack> How many WPM can you type? :)

<Stackpole> Zack: I don't know. I'm good for 1000 words an hour or so, with 5-6000 words a day being my limit.

<]Freelancer[> SO, about these upcoming books, do you have a timeline?

<Stackpole> Freelance: Timeline? Do you mean do they link into the existing timeline? Yes.

<]Freelancer[> I mean, when do you think they'll come out..

<Stackpole> Freelance: First X-wing is March of 98, I think. Mine will be march of 99.

<]Freelancer[> Thx

<Zack> in the 8th X-wing books, are you going to include some E-wings? THey're my favorite fighter craft

<Stackpole> Zack: Didn't they show up in DE? I'll be before that.

<Zack> actually, they showed up between the Zahn books and DE, so maybe you can 'invent' them :)

<Stackpole> Zack: but if I use them, it won't be an X-wing book, will it?

<Jodokast> hehehe

<Zack> No, I don't mean as the main ship, but maybe you could mention them, just for me? heh

<Stackpole> Plus, there's no E-wing simulator for me to get used to it.

<Stackpole> Zack: I'll see. Don't hold your breath, though.

<LSF_Ferg> Most of the XvT community is bugging LA about that.....

<Zack> I can't ask for more than that :)

<LSF_OTTO> there is an E-wing download for the original X-wing game

<Dunc> Will we see Mirax and Mara Jade in I, Jedi?

<Stackpole> Dunc: yes to both, but not at the same time.

<Dunc> darn... but it would be very interesting...

<GrandAdmiralNg> Mr. Stackpole, I'm a teenager and I'm working on a science fiction novel. How hard is it to get published?

<Stackpole> GA: It's tough to get published, but you have to keep pushing and sending things in. Rejection is a temporary setback.

<Jodokast> are you going to be working on anymore Computer games?

<Stackpole> Jodo: not at the moment.

<LSF_Ferg> Will we see Booster in this book anywhere?

<Stackpole> Ferg: Yep, in I, Jedi, as well as Spectre and Vision.

<Garic> They've gotten bounty hunter's, Jabba's Palace, Imperial point's of view...any smuggler's stories in the SW future that you know of?

<Dunc> add to Garic: besides Han & crew

<Garic> right Dunc! :)

<Stackpole> Garic: Not that I know of.

<LSF_OTTO> when will I,J hit the stores?

<Stackpole> Otto: April, I believe. WWW.BDD.Com will have better data on that than me. Authors are always the last to know.

<Dunc> Otto: Spring 98, March or April

<Dunc> bdd.com won't say anything until June <g>

<GhentZ> No offense, but BDD will not have better data. Most SW book sites like Steve Almond's or Rich Handley's will.

<LSF_OTTO> lol

<Dunc> You probably won't get anything solid until March at least, or the month before it comes out.

<DC_Kanton> you use sims to get ideas for books?

<Stackpole> Kanton: I got some ideas for the stories from the sims, but mostly just a feel for the ships.

<ZippyDan> have u played XWing vs. TIE Fighter?

<Stackpole> ZippyDan: Nope, don't have the software yet. My machine is a 486... Though I work on a Mac.

<Stackpole> My game machine is a 486

<ZippyDan> ah

<GhentZ> OW! 486. You need a new PC.

<Antigrav> Lucasarts has never made a game better than X-Wing, anyway

<Stackpole> I should upgrade, but I have little time for games right now.

<Zack> Can you give us any idea how many of the main characters from the first X-wing book will finish off into the 8th one?

<Stackpole> Zack: Can't do that. I don't know myself. However, a bunch of rogues show up in Spectre, so I guess I cna't kill them off.

<Zack> ah good

<DC_Kanton> I wish I could say ive read your books but Im just now getting into it

<Stackpole> Kanton: YOu don't have to read them, just BUY them.

<GhentZ> hehehehe

<Zack> Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to pick up Spectre yet, because of the lack of job. I'm set to go now, though :)

<Stackpole> Zack: There are libraries where you live, aren't there?

<Zack> yeah, but they don't listen to me on what to stock :)

<GhentZ> they never do.

<Dunc> Zack: interloan

<GhentZ> Dunc's right.

<ZippyDan> btw, did Rogue books ever come out in hardcover NEwher?

<Stackpole> ZippyDan: Nope, no hard covers on the Rogue books. Maybe if everyone asks the Science Fiction book club they will do it.

<Zack> For the Tales books, how do all the authors get they're stories intertwined so well?

<Stackpole> Zack: Lotss of hard work on the part of an editor to coordinate things.

<GhentZ> KJA did a great job!

<Zack> darn, I was hoping they got together in the basement of Skywalker Ranch and had a big war council :)

<Stackpole> Kevin worked really hard on those books.

<Zack> or they're all chained to a table until they finish, and do it good! :)

<Stackpole> Zack: Naw, that never happens. We meet in a board room there.

<GhentZ> And look at the records they set!

<DC_Kanton> Im in the middle of reading the wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, your books and other Starwars related books are up next on my list

<Stackpole> Kanton: So you 'll get them next year, right?

<DC_Kanton> probably hehe Im only in 2nd book of the series

<Jedi_John> So.. I heard that you and Tim Zahn have been throwing ideas around.....

<Stackpole> John: True enough.

<Zack> I assume you've met the big man himself, George Lucas?

<Stackpole> Zack: Nope. Walked past him at lunch one day, but wasn't introduced.

<DC_Kanton> wow!

<Jodokast> wow!

<DC_Kanton> hehe

<LSF_Ferg> Darn.... that musta sucked a little

<Zack> ah, more than I could ever hope for :)

<ZippyDan> do u do these chat things often now?

<Stackpole> ZippyDan: Nope. I've only had the software for 3 hours.

<ZippyDan> ah :D

<GrandAdmiralNg> Mr. Stackpole, I've read Side Trip in the SWAJ and I thought it was magnificent. I'm not a fan of the non-Imperials but I've always wanted to learn how CorSec nailed Thyne.

<Stackpole> GA: Thanks. That story was a lot of fun to do.

<Kavin> Stackpole: Do you have any kind of routine/gimmicks you use to write your stories or do you just sit down and start typing away? ;)

<Stackpole> kavin: Pretty much just start typing away. I do have an outline first, since it needs to get approved. Things change a little...

<Stackpole> but that's because it's vague in the outline.

<Wedge> when does the timeline of the comics plan to catch up to the timeline of the books?

<Stackpole> Wedge: We're 2 years out from the start of the novels, so it will be a long while.

<Wedge> thanks

<Kavin> have you always been a big star wars buff?

<Stackpole> Kavin: I've always liked Star Wars. I thought I was a huge fan, then I started running into the REALLY big fans.

<Zack> Mike: Any idea whether you'll get to do any of the Prequel-time novels?

<Stackpole> Zack: No one has called me on those. I'd be willing, but I just have to wait until I get invited in.

<Zack> Well, we all hope you do! :)

<Durron> Mr Stackpole: are you looking forward to the new Prequels, and do you have and inside info you might be able to tell us? =)

<Durron> and=any

<Stackpole> Durron: No inside data, I'm afraid. I can't wait for them, though.

<LSF_Ferg> Have you talked with George Lucas at all?

<Stackpole> Ferg: Nope. Heard his voice at the Ranch, that was it.

<g>

<LSF_Ferg> Darn, I was hopeing they would make your books into movies, but kinda take out anything that would be impoassble or near, like Luke Skywalker.....

<LSF_Ferg> That would be hard to do

<Stackpole> Ferg: At best they might be TV fare.

<LSF_Ferg> WooHoo!

<Zack> Yeah, I've heard rumors of them going to TV. About how likely is it?

<Stackpole> Zack: all dreams right now. Maybe after the movies are done.

<LSF_Ferg> Yes!

<Zack> We're all praying that it comes about :)

<ZippyDan> do u kno what will happen to the Rogue comic series after u connect with the books?

<Stackpole> ZippyDan: since that will take years, nope. Maybe we'll do comics of the novels.

<GhentZ> Have you approached or been approached by Del Rey to do any SW related material?

<Stackpole> Kris: Nope, not yet. I'm hoping, though.

<Zack> so what kind of weapon systems do they have at the ranch?:) [reference to Skywalker Ranch]

<Stackpole> Zack: I cna't tell you. Once you get the implant, you hurt when you reveal secrets like that.

<Zack> heheheh

<GhentZ> hehehehehehehe

<ZippyDan> lol

<Durron> haha

<Ct_Ramen> Question: How do you deal with all the inconsistencies that come up when different authors write the books?

<Stackpole> Ramen: As gently as possible. I spackle and fill a lot.

<Ct_Ramen> Ah

<Stackpole> Playing around and plugging holes inthe universe IS a lot of fun, though.

<Jodokast> have you ever talked to Mark Hamill?

<Stackpole> Jodo: Nope. Saw him across a crowed room once.

<DC_Kanton> Are ne of the staff at Lucasarts aware of the Starwars Quake thats coming out?

<Stackpole> Kanton: I don't know: I;m not on staff there.

<GhentZ> you should be.

<Durron> Mr. Stackpole: do you sometimes feel like you are part of the "elite" now that you are working in the Star Wars Univers?

* Jedi_John wants to be a Stormtrooper in the prequels. =P

<Zack> Durron: He IS the elite! :)

<Durron> i know he is Zack, I was just about to say that

<Stackpole> Durron: Elite? Nope. I know a lot of folks owuld like to be doing this. I just feel damned lucky.

<Zack> hope you don't consider us 'weird' for thinking of you as royalty, but you've been involved in about as much SW media as KJA

<Stackpole> Zack: I understand it, but I'm looking at it from the point of view of a magician who knows where the rabbit is BEFORE the trick.

<Jodokast> have you ever met anyone that has been in the movies?

<Stackpole> Jodo: Yeah, I've been at events with the Men behind the Mask tour, so I've met most of them.

<Stackpole> I've met Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Chewie, a Twi'lek (Bib Fortuna) and others.

<Wedge> cool

<Wedge> did you ever meet Denis Lawson (me being the huge wedge fan i am)

<Stackpole> Wedge: Nope, but we have exchanged letters.

<LSF_Ferg> Cool

<Wedge> WOW

<LSF_Ferg> ,If your books are made movies or goto TV you have anyone you want to Play Corran?

<Stackpole> Ferg: I'll trust LucasFilm to cast the roll. No one in mind now, though.

<Durron> Question: were you at Disney's MGM studios any of those Star Wars Weekends?

<Stackpole> Durron: Nope, I wasn't involved in SW when they were going down.

<LSF_OTTO> what did wedge think of your books?

<GhentZ> hehehehe

<LSF_Ferg> Aww

<Zack> heheh

<GhentZ> he meant Lawson

<Stackpole> Otto: I don't know. I sent him copies, but I've not heard back. I suspect it all confounds him.

<GhentZ> <g>

<Zack> nah, he's probably thinking "This is me! Perfect!!!"

<LSF_Ferg> Hehe

<GrandAdmiralNg> Hehe.

<Ct_Ramen> hahaha

<Stackpole> Zack: Ican but hope.

<Zack> well even if he doesn't think you did good, we thought they're great books.

<Stackpole> Zack: thanks.

<ZippyDan> some of the best

<Solo> Do you think the authors are running out of stuff to write about in the SW universe?

<Stackpole> Solo: I don't thinks so, but I never believed in the superweapon of the month plot myself anyway.

<LSF_OTTO> what about Isards SSD ?

<LSF_OTTO> thats kind of a super weapon

* Jedi_John remembers the Sun Crusher and Death Star Prototype and begins to sob.

<GrandAdmiralNg> *was nauseated when all the superweapons came out*

<GhentZ> not really, Otto.

<Stackpole> Otto: EVERYONE has an SSD. Cept our side, and we had to take it out.

<Ct_Ramen> I am sick of that hackneyed story line: The New Republic is in danger as the Imperials/Hutts/Baddies develop a new superweapon!

<Jedi_John> Look at Dark Empire series.. a bunch of Dark Jedi, World Devastators and the Eclipse SSD.

<Ct_Ramen> I really liked how you expanded on different races' cultures in the books. Some trilogies didn't do that

<Stackpole> Ramen: Thanks. that was a lot of fun.

<DC_Kanton> When you started writing Star Wars related books did you get your basis knowledge from the StarWars Source books ?

<Stackpole> Kanton: I read and read and read all the stuff I could get my hands on.

<Durron> Do you know if there are any plans to write new novels based around the time of the Prequels? After the movies are finished?

<GhentZ> yes there are Durron.

<Zack> What are the chances of following up on I, Jedi at some point, have Corran go out and fight some evil in the galaxy? :)

<Stackpole> Zack: That will be up to Ballentine.

<Zack> We hope it goes through. Corran is one of my favorite characters of all time, I'd love to see him out swash-buckling across the galaxy! :)

<Jodokast> will you be writing Battletech books again?

<Stackpole> Jodo: A new Btech novel is next on my plate.

<DC_Kanton> have you ever wrote ne fantasy?

<DC_Kanton> I love fantasy!!!

<DC_Kanton> sc fiction is second on my list

<Stackpole> Kanton: I have three fantasy novels on the stands now: ONCE A HERO, TALION: REVENANT and A HERO BORN.

<Solo> I think they should right one where the Empire actually regains most of the control and even the captital :)

<GrandAdmiralNg> Solo: Right on!

<LSF_Ferg> Solo, thay have its a comic book series call DE

<Ct_Ramen> They did. I think that happened in the first Dark Horse comic

<Solo> I mean NOVELS!

<Ct_Ramen> oh

<GrandAdmiralNg> It is but they didn't keep Coruscant. I wish the Empire would win more often.

<LSF_Ferg> Just akie them novil, pow got it

<Zack> You people and your Imperial loyalties! DId you all forget that they were the BAD GUYS? :)

<Wedge> imperials are bad

<GhentZ> heheheh

<GrandAdmiralNg> Zack: *points to screen name* What do you think. :)

<Solo> Most books now go: the imp come up with the huge plot and then right before it works something happens,,,, it sucks

<Durron> the empire has to win sometimes, remember ESB?

<Wedge> i wouldn't consider hoth an imperial victory though durron. the rebels succesfully evacuated

<GrandAdmiralNg> Wedge: Hoth was the Rebel base, the main ase. It was a strategic victory.

<GhentZ> victory usually goes to whoever is last on the field of battle, especially since in this case the Imps completed part of their objective.

<Durron> Wedge: but the movie as a whole, was NOT a victory for the rebel alliance

<Stackpole> ESB pretty much was a bust for the Rebels.

<GrandAdmiralNg> Imperials are good! Evil is good.

<Ct_Ramen> hehe

<GrandAdmiralNg> :)

<Stackpole> GA: Baron Fel once believed that, too.

<GrandAdmiralNg> Stackpole: I haven't read about the 181st yet because noone in my area carries SW comics.

<Stackpole> GA: order them by mail. The series is a lot of fun, I think.

<DC_Kanton> mail order them

<GrandAdmiralNg> Stackpole: Thanks, I wasn't sure if you could.

<Wedge> did you ever read Timothy Zahn's conqeror's pride, and if so what did you think of them?

<Stackpole> Wedge: I haven't read them, but I like Tim's writing a lot.

<Wedge> oh

<DC_Kanton> Ever met Terry Brooks, Robert Jordan or Terry Goodkind?

<Stackpole> Kanton: Robert Jordan, a long time ago. Negative on the others.

<DC_Kanton> wow!!!

<DC_Kanton> he is a genius!!!!!

<Zack> Mike: New Republic or Imperials? Who do YOU like the best? :)

<Stackpole> Zack: I'm partial to the Rebels, but the Imps can be fun.

<Zack> :)

<Jodokast> do you like Bounty Hunters?

<Stackpole> Jodo: I think they're a lot of fun, yes.

<Solo> I like the Xwing series because of ALL the action

<Stackpole> Solo: Thanks.

<Jodokast> cool.

<Ct_Ramen> Tht virus idea was creative. A nice break

<Stackpole> Ramen: thanks. My dad's a doctor, so I think of those things.

<Ct_Ramen> cool

<GrandAdmiralNg> Mr. Stackpole: Did you get the idea for Krytos partly from Ebola.

<Zack> yeah, screw indiscriminate super weapons, have something that trashes people individually! :)

<Stackpole> GA: I had the idea of a virus in my outline and that was approved. THEN I read THE HOT ZONE and modeled the Krytos virus on Ebola somewhat.

<Wedge> durron: it wasn't a rebel victory. but if that's all the imps could do their in for trouble from the alliance

<Jodokast> EMPIRE was my favorite

<Wedge> rotj was mine cause wedge commanded rogue squadron

<Durron> Stackpole: how does it feel to be the only SW writer to have content dealing with sex? (to my knowledge anyway)

<GhentZ> Kube-McDowell did some too Durron.

<Stackpole> Durron: I've been asked that before. No one at LFL had probs with it, so I don' tknow what the big deal was.

<JediMaster> Lets ask question here!

<Durron> what book GhentZ>

<GhentZ> the BLACK FLEET CRISIS tril, but not much. It was implied somewhat.

<Durron> oh, I still havn't read those ones

<GrandAdmiralNg> Empire was the best...I just wished Vader would stop choking every single officer in the Navy!

<Jedi_John> You either did you best and succeeded or died.

<Wedge> and the imps wonder why their losing....they kill all their officers

<Jedi_John> Hey it promoted them to do their best.

<Durron> he didn't choke Piett

<GrandAdmiralNg> Durron: Well no.

<Durron> i think it's great, makes it more realistic

<Zack> I agree, Durron :)

<Stackpole> Durron: Thanks. That's the goal. I wanted folks to figure I was George Lucas under an assumed name.

<Solo> Gives depth into characters

<Zack> how exactly did the Solo kids come about if theres no Sex in Star Wars? :)

<Stackpole> Zack: Good point.

<Ct_Ramen> The stork

<GhentZ> hehehehe

<GhentZ> good one Captain.

<Durron> Star Wars: The Romance Novel =)

<GhentZ> NO!!!!

<LSF_OTTO> uuggg

<Zack> ugh, no! heh

<Zack> "Han picked Leia up, his biceps rippling..."

<Zack> lol

<Stackpole> Was't the Romance really Courship?

<Durron> lol =)

<GhentZ> Actually, Courtship was more of a Fantasy novel

<GrandAdmiralNg> *as long as we don't see anything about how Tarkin got a date with Admiral Daala I'm fine with it*

<GhentZ> those Witches. Creepy.

<Zack> eewwww, GA!! :PPP

<Jodokast> no cause Han went looking for her

<Wedge> lol ga

<GhentZ> gross!

* Zack shudders at the thought of that wrinkly old fart... ewww!!

<GrandAdmiralNg> Sorry if it was inappropriate. Just needed an extreme example.

<GhentZ> let's not sink , people.

<Stackpole> Hmmm, maybe I should have left sex out of the books.

<GhentZ> <g>

<Durron> hehe

<LSF_OTTO> <G>

<Zack> lol, it's okay Mike, we're just a bunch of weirdos :)

<GrandAdmiralNg> Zack: Speak for yourself. I'm a super wierdo.

<Zack> sorry GA :)

<Wedge> Mr Stackpole: what inspired you to write a book about Wedge? (sorry if this question was asked already i had to leave for a sec)

<Stackpole> Wedge: I was asked to write about a fighter squadron. Wedge was pretty much the only choice as a focus character if I was going to do that.

<Stackpole> Wedge fits the sort of character I like to use. He's his own man, but knows powerful folks.

<Wedge> thanks for writing about him. it's the only book that has him in it for more than four pages

<Ct_Ramen> What slot are your new books in?

<Stackpole> Slot?

<Ct_Ramen> uh, time period

<Solo> TEENAGERS!

<Stackpole> Ramen: X-wing 8 is before DE, I, JEDI is during and after JA3.

<Ct_Ramen> Ah. I hate when some guys wirite trilogies that happen 2 months before Corellia, or 1 week after Zahn.

<Stackpole> Ramen: I have the luxury of running parallel to things since I don't use main characters.

<Wedge> Mr Stackpole: what was your favorite sw novel? (again, sorry if this was asked already) not to put you on the spot about the rogue squadron novels

<Stackpole> Wedge: Tough to say. I think THE BACTA WAR, though I'm also partial to WEDGE'S GAMBLE>

<Zack> I'll be right back, got to get something to eat. Want anything, Mike? :)

<Stackpole> Zack, thanks, but I have soccer.

<Zack> heheh

<LSF_Ferg> Hehe

<GhentZ> heheh

<LSF_OTTO> lol

<GhentZ> rotfl

<Durron> heh

<LSF_Ferg> Loopehole of a sort

<Wedge> i liked bacta war also

<Wedge> that was a good one

<GrandAdmiralNg> Bacta War was the best I think.

* LSF_OTTO agrees

<Wedge> i thought the krytos virus was a nice touch

<Stackpole> The Bacta War was fun for me because I got everyone back together and could have snappy patter.

<GhentZ> biowarfare is not something SW has really dealt with other than Krytos.

<GrandAdmiralNg> GhentZ: Even though we all know the Empire's sick enough to do that.

<GhentZ> yup.

<Durron> what's your favorite other than ones that you've writen?

<Stackpole> Durron: You really want to get me in trouble, don't you?

<Durron> hehe

<GhentZ> nah, we won't tell!

<Durron> no way

<GhentZ> we'll edit it out of the transcript.

<Stackpole> I'd have to say I liked Tim Zahn's books the best of the rest.

<Ct_Ramen> See, that's original. I'm getting turned off to most SW novels because of that phenomena. The lasts ones I read were yours and Black Fleet. Both original, cause one didn't even deal with the empire, and yours expanded on biological warfare* Jedi_John wishes someone would do like a Tales of the Ssi-ruuvi Imperium.

<GrandAdmiralNg> Mr. Stackpole the Krytos virus was a nice touch. It really brought home how desperate the Empire became in their effortto win the war.

<Durron> I liked how while I was reading the X-wing series, I would be like "I know what's gonna happen next" and then it would be totally different

<GhentZ> YES!

<Stackpole> Durron: That's my goal and philosopy...

<GhentZ> it was rather that way. very much like Zahn. <hint>

<Durron> the touch with the traitor was great

<Stackpole> Readers and writers are playing Name that tune. You say you know what will hapen and it's my job to show it won't.

<Ct_Ramen> Come on, man. I knew Jace was comin' back sooner or later. :)

<GrandAdmiralNg> *actually thought that Jace was dead*

<Stackpole> GA: Jace WAS dead until the 3rd novel, when I decided it was he who sent the Vratix to Wedge.

<GrandAdmiralNg> Wow.

<Wedge> Mr Stackpole: will you be bringing any new imperial powers in your other novels to make the imperials stronger since the rebels keep kicking there tail?

<Stackpole> Wedge: scine all my books are set in existing timeframes, that's kind of tough. <g>

<Wedge> oh yeah

<Wedge> forgot about the timeframe

<GhentZ> unless you get a contract from DR!

<Ct_Ramen> Yeah, Bacta war totally blended in with Courtship. Alotta others condratict with what happens later

<GhentZ> yeah, you mention Zinj extensively.

<Stackpole> Making joints between books seamless is something I enjoy doing as much as possible.

<Stackpole> Kris: Zsinj needed to be built up, so I built him up.

<Ct_Ramen> That can be taken two ways

<GhentZ> that's what coninuity is all about.

<Ct_Ramen> hehe

<GrandAdmiralNg> Zsinj was pretty nifty.

<Wedge> i think the second book of the new trilogy for the rogues will be cool cause it's gonna be about zinj

<GhentZ> both will, I think.

<Zack> If you were given a license to write as many SW books as you wanted, in any time frame, how many do you think you'd do? :)

<Stackpole> Zack: I don't know. One a year, maybe. Depends on the pay.

<Durron> any chance of a novel dealing with Corran's past at CorSec?

<Stackpole> Durron: Unlikely, but we might get short stories or comics out of it.

<LSF_OTTO> lol

<LSF_OTTO> money talks and...

<ZippyDan> come on Mike... u r'nt supposed to emphasizing the pay here... :) u gotta make up some kind of idealistic motivating factor...

<GhentZ> heheheh

<LSF_OTTO> hehehe

<GhentZ> I think that's our favorite line hands down.

<Zack> well, I can honestly say chatting with you has been a big help for me, I'm eager to jump back into writing some of my own stories :)

<GhentZ> heheheheeh

<LSF_OTTO> having fun while making money sounds good to me

<Stackpole> ZippyDan: Is anything more motivating than money?

<ZippyDan> life eternal :)

<Stackpole> Zack: Im glad.

<Stackpole> Zippy: Show me where I can get it, and I'll write boks to do os.

<Zack> What's your favorite type of book to write?

<Stackpole> Zack: No real favorite, I love them all. Have to, or I'd not do them.

<Zack> heheh

<GrandAdmiralNg> Mr. Stackpole, I was curious why the Interdictor Black Asp had ion cannons when they only carry quad laser cannons. (doesn't mean offend anyone)

<Stackpole> GA: I think they have ion cannons, or did in the sourcebook I was using at the time.

<Ct_Ramen> That sourcebook by Anderson was ridiculous. A strike cruiser going as fast as an X-Wing? please

<GrandAdmiralNg> Ramen: The only cruiser I know that goes as fast as an X-Wing is the Imperial Carrack Light Cruiser.

<GrandAdmiralNg> Ramen: Well it happens...authors are human to.

<Ct_Ramen> Yeah, well they shoudn't be. :)

<GrandAdmiralNg> Ramen: :)

<Stackpole> Ramen: And too many of them don't believe they are.

<ZippyDan> LOL

<Zack> You're only human, Mike? I WON'T beleive it! :)

<Stackpole> Zack: As human as they come, I'm afraid.

<Wedge> Mr Stackpole: I know this is veering of to the subject at hand but what was your favorite of the starwars movies?

<Ct_Ramen> Oh, my bad. That's still ridiculous. That's like a Guided Missle Frigate goin as fast as an F-18

<Stackpole> Wedge: ESB, I think. I liked the tone.

<Wedge> thats cool, i didn't like that one cause wedge was in it for ten seconds

<Stackpole> Wedge: Well, YES, it did have that flaw.

<Wedge> :) thanks for your sympathy mr stackpole

[HUGE pause here in the flurry of conversation; confusion begins]

<GhentZ> radio silence

<Ct_Ramen> No s

<Wedge> i think it's a tragedy

<Jedi_John> Been gone for a while. What's the estimated-release-date for I, Jedi?

<ZippyDan> in the games an XWing goes only 100 kilometers per hour max

<ZippyDan> so

<Ct_Ramen> No, that's MGLT

<Wedge> per second zippy dan

<Wedge> i think

<Zack> Zippy: A lot faster than that :)

<ZippyDan> comparing it to an F18 wouldnt be fair

<GrandAdmiralNg> Zippy yeah and that's without shunting power to shields and lasers.

<ZippyDan> thats per hour

<Wedge> oh

<Zack> no, an X-wing goes WAY faster than 100 km per hour.

<Wedge> well that's in attack mode though

<Zack> what exactly is a mglt? :)

<ZippyDan> believe me, if u wer going per second, it wouldnt take so long to reach that Capital Ship 9 kilometers away

<LSF_OTTO> lol

<Wedge> yeah

<Wedge> i was confusing it with wing commander

<Ct_Ramen> something something light something

<Wedge> withc is cool cause mark hammil is in it

<Ct_Ramen> Measurements of sub-light speeds

<Zack> Mike, do you know what a MGLT is? :)

<Wedge> lol zack

<Stackpole> Zack: NOpe. I hitched on it when doing the first book, too.

<GrandAdmiralNg> I wish we could see a novel about a day in the life of a capital ship commander. Or a game like that.

<GhentZ> mega light-years I think, Zack

<LSF_OTTO> hyperspace is alot faster then an F-18 anyways

<Ct_Ramen> hehe

<Zack> hmm

<GhentZ> hehehehe

<ZippyDan> it is in Kilometers/hour

<Zack> the great mystery of our time! What's an MGLT? :)

<Wedge> you like the f 18 don't ya otto

<GhentZ> all right already!

<LSF_OTTO> :P

<Ct_Ramen> An F-16 can whack an F-18 anyday

<Durron> how about a novel based around the time of the movies, but running along side it, like about smugglers or bounty hunters and such while the war is going on?

<ZippyDan> ya

<GhentZ> That's what Jeter's tril is about Durron!

<Durron> Jeter's tril?

<GhentZ> trilogy

<Durron> Jeter?

<Durron> =)

<Zack> Zippy: I drive 100 km per hour. An X-wing goes faster than I do.

<Wedge> i don't think so ramen

<ZippyDan> r'nt we supposed to be talking to Mike?

<Ct_Ramen> haha

<Stackpole> I figured attack speed for an X-wing was like 500 knots or so, when I did my calculations for the missile chase in the first book.

<Wedge> wow

<ZippyDan> not in space Zack

<Ct_Ramen> F-16 can out turn an F-18

<Wedge> no it can't

<Zack> in space there's no friction, why wuold it be slower?

<Wedge> an f 16 can't even out turn a mig 29

<GhentZ> there is friction

<GhentZ> in space

<Ct_Ramen> bull

<Stackpole> Zack: Mass still matters in space.

<Wedge> it's true

<Zack> very little, though :)

<GhentZ> but it's there. space being a vacuum is a myth of epic proportions.

<Wedge> there old

<Ct_Ramen> Yeah, an X-Wing must weiggh way more than a F-18

<Brad> Mike: Who are some of the authors you currently enjoy reading?

<Stackpole> Brad: I like Zahn, Zelazny, Bernard Cornwell, Rex Stout, Dennis L. McKiernan, Stephen Donaldson, Larry bond.

<Zack> I don't mean to be ignorant, but how far is a knot? :)

* Wedge wants to stop talking a bout the difference between fighter jets and wants to start talking about the difference between ties and x wings

<Ct_Ramen> a little over a mile

<Durron> hey guys, how about going back to questions or at least star wars related conversation

<Ct_Ramen> sorry

<Zack> still, a futuristic fighter craft will go faster than my car.

<ZippyDan> :)

<Zack> even if it was flying through water :P

<Zack> or mud :)

<LSF_OTTO> a nautical mile tking in the curve of the Earth

<Brad> /me wants to stop talking about space craft and start talking about the difference between laden and unladen african swallows

<LSF_OTTO> or T/A's

<GrandAdmiralNg> Mr. Stackpole: Why didn't Intelligence Director Isard use TIE Defenders?

<Stackpole> GA: There just weren't that many of them. The guys in TIE FIGHTER keep getting htem shot up.

<Ct_Ramen> haha

<Jodokast> have you ever read Shadows of the empire by Steve Perry? and if so, what did you think?

<Stackpole> Jodo: I've read part of it. I thought it was pretty good. I admire Steve for doing that job beciase it was tough.

<GhentZ> a lot of expectations to live up to.

<ZippyDan> not me :)

<GrandAdmiralNg> Hehe.

<Zack> african, or european?

<LSF_OTTO> lol

<Durron> don't be mad at my ignorance, but did Isard die? I can't remember

<Stackpole> Durron: She pretty much got smoked in the Bacta War.

<GrandAdmiralNg> Zippy, not me either. TIE Defender Ace.

<GhentZ> the game showed what could have happened if the Empire had started winning.

<GrandAdmiralNg> Hey NRF Falcon.

<ZippyDan> um

<GhentZ> heheheh

<LSF_OTTO> at the end in the shuttle

<LSF_OTTO> that she stole

<Zack> yeah! Kill the Ice-beast! :)

<Jodokast> I'd like to see Tycho in his own book, or is it already out

<Stackpole> Jodo: You see a lot of Tycho in the comics.

<GrandAdmiralNg> I'm an Imperial and even I hated Isard.

<GhentZ> she's not going to do a Dash Rendar, right?

<Stackpole> Kris: did Dash come back?

<GhentZ> in the game

<Zack> yep, Dash is alive

<LSF_Ferg> dash is deader than a door nail

<Wedge> it's Pash

<GrandAdmiralNg> Dash is alive???!!

<LSF_Ferg> Pash is alive

<Drew_BlackStar> Yeah ng

<LSF_Ferg> not dash, Dash is dead

<Zack> lol, Dash and Pash are two different characters

<Wedge> sorry thought you were talking about pash cracken

<Zack> no, Dash is alive, so is Pash

<Jodokast> i know, but i'd like him to have his own trilogy or something

* Drew_BlackStar lol

<LSF_Ferg> No Dash is dead

<ZippyDan> why dont we ask Dash himself?

<^Invader> Render was supposed to die near Coruscant

<GhentZ> Dash is alive. I didn't play the game and even I know that. You guys are supposed to be hard-core fans! You are excused MIke, you're busy writing entertainment for us.

<Zack> LSF, he's alive, you don't pay much attention.

<GrandAdmiralNg> I also heard about Shadows of the Empire: Evolution, is that really coming out?

<Stackpole> GA: I don't know about that project.

<GhentZ> Yes

<Jedi_John> Darnit! Dash is alive.

<GhentZ> February I think

<GhentZ> 5 issues.

<GhentZ> check out my page or subscribe to my newletter.

* Jedi_John played Sabacc with Dash Rendar yesterday. Took a bunch of his money too!

<Wedge> Mr stackpole: what happened with erisi? we know she crashed but we never figured out wether she died?.

<Stackpole> Wedge: I meant that crash to pretty much prove she'd been killed. Not much left of the fighter ther, and no atsmophere on the moon.

<LSF_Ferg> man I hate that

<Drew_BlackStar> Erisi was cool even though she was an imp

<Durron> how about an afair between Leia and Corran? =)

<Stackpole> Durron: I don't think so.

<Drew_BlackStar> Aww comeon erisi was cool and cute.

<Stackpole> Drew: cool, cute and deadly. she had to go.

<Jodokast> Dash didn't die

<Stackpole> Jodo: Unlikely. The comics should be good enough for him.

<LSF_OTTO> we can rebuild her we have the tech...the 6 million credit pilot

<Wedge> i thought erisi was cool.

<Wedge> she coulda taken corran if she was in an x wing. she almost did in a tie

<Zack> lol Otto

<Drew_BlackStar> Erisi was a bad pilot but she was cool

<^Invader> I agree With Wedge I liked erisi's personality :)

<Drew_BlackStar> she's the evil woman ya had ta love

<GrandAdmiralNg> Erisi was an interesing woman...

<Zack> I personally would have liked to see her melt. I thought

she was some sort of witch :)

<GhentZ> hehehehe

<Drew_BlackStar> Erisi vs Mirax Battle of the Century

<^Invader> lol

<Wedge> she was cool

<GhentZ> good grief

<LSF_Ferg> hehe

<GrandAdmiralNg> She was the Bacta Queen.

<Stackpole> Drew: That would have been a fight.

<Drew_BlackStar> Yeah Erisi was cool

<Jodokast> come on guys lets ask questions

<GhentZ> drop it guys

<Zack> heheh

<Drew_BlackStar> hmmm is corran gonna surivive?

<GhentZ> He's in SotP!

<Drew_BlackStar> SotP?

<Wedge> i was hopin she was alive so she could kick corran's tail

<Wedge> eventhough corran was pretty cool

<ZippyDan> Stackpole, i know u won't do it... cuz u r bzy and you would be pestered with many messages... but I have to ask u to get ICQ... :D

<Stackpole> ZippyDan: I'm on a Mac and they don't have ICQ for it.

<GhentZ> DOH!

* Jedi_John thinks they have a Java ICQ ver. for mac.

<LSF_OTTO> one of us could E-mail it to you

<ZippyDan> they have ICQ for regular Macs, powerMacs, and a Java version

<Stackpole> Zippy: Really? I though they were going to email when tehy got it for the Mac.

<ZippyDan> i just checked ther Mike

<ZippyDan> i have it right in front of me... :)

<Zack> Mike, it is available for Mac :)

<Stackpole> Zippy: I'll have to check mirabilis again, then.

<Zack> http://www.icq.com/download :)

<ZippyDan> great! :)

<Durron> gettin a little pushy there Zack? =)

<ZippyDan> hey, lets not pester him too much

<Zack> no, informative :)

<GhentZ> hehehe

<GrandAdmiralNg> *Imperial smile*

<GhentZ> yikes.

* Jedi_John would like to state my UIN: 2547843

<ZippyDan> after all, ne1 who works for LA is a god... :)

<LSF_OTTO> "rebel smile"

<Jedi_John> If you ever get ICQ.

<Jedi_John> let em know =)

* Drew_BlackStar Rogue Smile

* Durron 's UIN # is 4352328 or just search for Durron

<LSF_Ferg> 2570037

<ZippyDan> he hasnt even gotten ICQ! :)

<GrandAdmiralNg> *chuckles*

<LSF_Ferg> so?

<LSF_Ferg> Ir don't matter if he has ICQ I'm telling to everyone

<ZippyDan> ok then

<Durron> me too

<ZippyDan> my UIN is 2028291... and my nickname is ZippyDan :)

<LSF_Ferg> 2570037 everyone thtas my ICQ

<LSF_OTTO> 3967916 is mine

<Durron> I'm about to loose faith in you Mike =)

<GhentZ> hehehehe

<GhentZ> Use it on the 486!

<Stackpole> Kris: then I'd have to go online in the othe room.

this is easier there on the mac.

<GhentZ> sorry, I'm not familiar with the layout of your home.

<LSF_OTTO> darn

<LSF_OTTO> yeah

<GhentZ> how fast is it?

<Durron> a MAC??!!

<Stackpole> Durron: Most all my novels were written on a Mac.

<Stackpole> Durron: Yep, and before that is was an OSBORNE, a CP/M machine.

<GhentZ> uh-oh.

<ZippyDan> ya

<Durron> oh no! you can't be serious! hehe j/k

<Zack> doh!

* Zack hits his head on the wall

<Durron> wow

<Durron> lol

<GhentZ> Mac written SW novels! NO!!!!!!! {GhentZ does a bad imitation of a Luke scream]

<GrandAdmiralNg> Mr. Stackpole: What did the New Republic do with SSD Lusankya after it was captured? Is that they one the NR scrapped?

<Stackpole> GA: It's pretty beat to hell. I think they scrapped it.

<GrandAdmiralNg> *was close to tears when the SSD was almost vaped*

<Zack> I loved what you did with the gravity generators on the SSD, Mike

<Drew_BlackStar> Mr Stackpole: Would you object to people recreating some of the space battles in your books and fit them to XvT?

<Stackpole> Drew: I'd think that was cool.

<GhentZ> that would be COOL!

<Durron> I started to do that Drew: never got anywhere with it

<LSF_OTTO> very cool

<Drew_BlackStar> Stackpole, great because I already started one, but i need to know what the pulsar stake is more close to a Yt-1300 or a MUrrian Transport?

<Stackpole> I based it on the Baudo class Star Yacht.

<Jodokast> will there be any more rouge pilots who will become Jedi?

<Zack> Drew: Neither, but closer to a Murrian I'd say

<GhentZ> it's in the new EG isn't it?

<Drew_BlackStar> Ok good then I don't have to change anything. I've even coaxed teh Interdictor to fire Ion cannons

<GrandAdmiralNg> Drew, how in the name of the Empire did you do that to Interdictors?

<GhentZ> discuss that somewhere else people.

<Drew_BlackStar> Ng I selected the fire type.

<ZippyDan> LucasArts= Mount Olympus :)

<GhentZ> hehehe

<Drew_BlackStar> Oh MR Stackpole, Lisse (my girl freind) wants me to tell ya hi.

<ZippyDan> whoa

<GhentZ> watch out

<Stackpole> Drew: Tell her "Hi" back.

<Durron> hehe

<LSF_OTTO> lol

<GrandAdmiralNg> Mr. Stackpole will we see any part of the ongoing war in I, Jedi?

<Stackpole> GA: There's actually not a war going on at that oint, but there is plenty of fighting.

<Drew_BlackStar> Mr Stackpole I think the mission should run, once I figure out how to upload it to my webpage (so you can downloade it) would you like the URL?

<Ct_Ramen> When are they going to be released?

<Durron> I would drew

<Stackpole> Drew: Thanks, but I don't have XvT.

<ZippyDan> no fighting, more romance... :)

<Stackpole> Zippy: This book has it all. <g>

<Ct_Ramen> dope

<LSF_OTTO> kewl

<Drew_BlackStar> Stackpole *shrug* you can get it when they put it out for macs.

<Ct_Ramen> if they put it out

<Zack> They won't put it out for Macs

<Stackpole> I will, at that point, then I'll start searaching.

<Zack> LucasArts doesnt' do Mac anymore :)

<GhentZ> they do, just not much

<LSF_OTTO> about 3 years behind

<Durron> Mr Stackpole: how about posting what you have done on I, Jedi on your web page for all to read and critique? =)

<Stackpole> Durron: Can't do that. It would violate my contract and I'd have to give money back.

<Durron> i know Mike

<GhentZ> Mike, you need to save some money and get a nice Pentium.

<Stackpole> Kris, did you just use the words "nice" and "Pentium" inthe same sentence?

<^Invader> Mr. Stackpole, Do you actually visionalize the battles taking place in your mind?

<Stackpole> Invader: Pretty much, yeah.

<^Invader> How can you do it? Im in a Tie Fighter Squadron on the Internet called Omega...and we right POV stories and I can't visionalize the battles <g>

<Stackpole> Invader: Years of practice? I don't know. I just try to fit things into the tactics I know about and go from there.

<Stackpole> Okay, abuot 10 minutes more, then Ihave to roll on to soccer.

<LSF_Ferg> what is the I, Jedi page?

<ZippyDan> nah, why do that, the new macs will use Intel Chips, runs both Mac and Windows

<Durron> can i call you Mike? Sir?

<Stackpole> Sure, call me Mike. This Mr. thing is kind of freaky.

<GhentZ> freaky? we look up to you WAY up! how tall are you, now that I've brought it up?

<Stackpole> Kris: 5'7" or so.

<Kavin> Mr: Stackpole what position do you play and is it only indoor/outdoor or both? I love soccer ;)

<Stackpole> Kavin: I play indoor and right now I'm a forward, but I rotate on defense or in the goal as needed.

<Zack> Mike: Maybe write some (very) short stories and toss them up there? :)

<GrandAdmiralNg> Well Mr. Stackpole thanks for answering my sometimes odd questioms.

<Stackpole> GA My pleasure.

<GhentZ> I think I speak for everyone (whether or not they know it) when I say: Send our best wishes to your injured team mate and good luck at the game! MtFbwY, a!

<GrandAdmiralNg> Doh.

<LSF_Ferg> hehe

<LSF_OTTO> later all and thaks for the chat mike

<Durron> hey Mike, come back and chat with us when you start work on your next novel

<Jodokast> good bye Mike and MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU.......ALWAYS

<Brad> Mike:Before you go, I just want to let you know that I enjoy your work very much

<ZippyDan> he's leaving now?

<Drew_BlackStar> Kyp its not finding it.

<^Invader> kewl

<ZippyDan> is this goodbye time?

<JediMaster> Thankyou Mike> I hope we came do this here again.

<^Invader> want to play XVT some time? hehe

<Durron> are you talking to me Drew?

* LSF_OTTO says later all and thanks for your time mike

<Stackpole> Thanks, all. Writers work in isolation, so chatting with folks hwo read is a thrill.

<Drew_BlackStar> Yeah

<Jodokast> bye

<^Invader> Thank you Mr. Stackpole :)

<ZippyDan> hehe... so

<Durron> well... just search for Durron then

<ZippyDan> Get ICQ and look me up :)

<Drew_BlackStar> I can't find your icq.. here find mine 1340469

<LSF_Ferg> Yes Thank you

<Durron> are you leaving now Mike?

<Zack> see you later, Mike! Keep up the great work!

<GhentZ> Thank you so much for coming! You are welcome back any time!

<LSF_Ferg> Ohh ohh me toop!

<Jodokast> MTFBWY

<Drew_BlackStar> uhoh ask for atuhorization and I'll get back to you

<ZippyDan> all the time

<Drew_BlackStar> I gotta eat now see ya all.

<GhentZ> Looking forward to the new X-wings and I, JEDI!

<^Invader> ICQ UIN:.12 3381623

<Jodokast> your the best

<Durron> hehe, look at all the people trying to get in one last goodbye

<GhentZ> hehehee
